Lesson 11: How to get a status report from Lawyerdude.

People/ Litigants inquire of me about the status of their case. I ask these questions of the Litigants. The answers help me answer the Litigants.

I can write something for you. You can help. Please do your part. I will do mine.

1.        If the court reporter is being obstinate, then we turn that lemon into lemonade by perhaps a motion to dismiss, but first we do the reasonable thing and ask her to do the right thing. We ask her by email and/ or letter.

2.         If you don’t have your file yet then we can turn that lemon into lemonade. Often the prosecutor and public defender will refuse to give you the file. Once again: A motion to dismiss may be the ultimate remedy but first we must make a written effort reminding these players of the law.

3.       If there is no written complaint then we should move to quash the prosecution.

4.        If there is no action by the prosecutor then we move to dismiss with prejudice to prevent him from jumping in later in the game.

5.         If the judge errs we can seek a pre-trial writ.

6.         Please review and upgrade and send me your upgraded chronology, list of players, etc.

The questions on this page are designed to help you focus on what should be done next in your case. Please help me focus on your case by answering these questions: Yes. I know. You have answered these questions previously. Indulge me, please.

1.         What would you like me to do?

2.         Please send me a list of things to do in your case.

3.         When is your next court appearance? What event is scheduled for that day?

4.         What other dates and deadlines do we face?

5.         When did you last go to court? Is your history of court appearances listed in your chronology?

6.         How many times have you been to court on this case? Please list the dates.

7.         Do they owe us an e-transcript?

8.         Do you have two cases going now? Let’s talk about only one case in this message.

9.         What is the serial number of the chronology in that case?

10.       Do I owe you a motion or other written document in that case?

11.       Is the chronology up to date? If not, please inform me of the latest items that are not on the chronology.

12.       Do we have any strategies and theories in the case? Are the listed on the chronology? If not, then what are the theories of the case?

13.       What is the statute number that you are accused of violating?

14.       How much have you paid me?

15.       Have your ordered any transcripts?

16.       Do you have a copy of my book? If not, then let me know.

17.       How many papers have I written for your case?

18.       Please read the following twenty lessons so that we may be on the same page:
